Background

I am a technologist who has progressively moved more into business, product, and marketing, as well as leveling up in investment and venture capital.

I’ve never been paid to code, but tinker with new technologies as part of relying on my technical background to help build bridges and explain technology through the lens of business and product.

As part of my move back to Vancouver in 2004, I became part of the growth of Vancouver’s web & entrepreneur community. I took part in the beginnings of Web 2.0, including open source, blogging, and the emergence of social media. Including being member #1746 on LinkedIn.

I strive to align my personal interests – working with smart people on great projects that involve people-centric technology – with what I do for work. My work-life balance tends to come from making sure that I am involved in mission-driven companies that I can get behind and champion.

Aside from my interest in technology, I live in Vancouver & I like food. You can find posts on these topics on my microblog Β»

Welcome to [[my]] digital [[Zettelkasten]], nicknamed [[This Zettelkasten]]. Its main purpose is to assist me with my research objectiveβ€”[[evaluating and improving psychoanalysis’ scientificity and efficacy]]. Nonetheless, other related and unrelated subjects may also appear here.

An archetypical, analog Zettelkasten (there are other variations with slight or significative differences) is a collection of physical index cards in which one registers some kind of content. These cards usually are linked to each other by some sort of metadata: tags, direct references to other cards, Folgezettel, etc. In a sense, ZettelkΓ€sten are some of the many ancestors of [[hypertext]], and have been used since their inception by many different kinds of people, from scientists and philosophers to writers and artists.

In this Zettelkasten, every individual page is a [[card]], with a title and a numerical ID. Cards are connected to each other either through [[wikilinks]] naturally inserted into the card’s body, or through being referenced in a [[Trail]]β€”a sequence of related cards. [[Tags]] help organizing cards into broader categories and classes, and convey certain info about them (e.g. the #incomplete tag marks a card whose content I intend to develop more in the future).

Cards have classes, indicated by tags. This one is a [[Handbook]]β€”a card whose content serves to explain how this Zettelkasten works.

colophon

I write all the content of this site in Logseq and build it via the static site generator Hugo. I use the logseq-schrodinger plugin to convert the pages to Hugo-compatible Markdown. Finally, I use the logseq-hugo-template to structure everything and provide the them, and I use the GitHub Pages action from Logseq-Hugo-Template.
